(It's your license/activation that determines which program features are available.) But if you upgrade from a different VERSION (Artist 11 to Cubase 12), then you would end up with 2 different directories because the versions are different. For example, if you already have Cubase Artist 12 installed and you upgrade to Cubase Pro 12 the actual install directory will remain the same. More info: Upgrades (like Artist to Pro) can be a little different. (Extreme example would be if you have an old project that uses 32-bit plugins.) EDIT: Also, if you DO wish to keep running your older versions or if you own any Steinberg instruments that haven't been converted to Steinberg Licensing yet (for example the full versions of Groove Agent and HALion Sonic), you'll need to keep your USB eLicenser connected. (Although some of your plugins might get updated.) You only need to keep/use your old versions if you find that you have compatibility problems loading old projects in newer Cubase versions. Short answer: When updating to a new version (for example, from 11 to 12), you will end up with a new folder containing the new version your pre-existing installs will remain untouched.
